Questions have been raised regarding the role of chief executives at district and county councils, following comments by communities secretary, Eric Pickles, that such positions were ‘non-jobs'.

Residents in two areas of Suffolk have been asked this week to consider merging Babergh and Mid Suffolk DCs, after Breckland and South Holland, Great Yarmouth and South Norfolk, and Waveney and Suffolk Coastal DCs have already decided to move towards joint chief executives and shared senior management teams.
