Pickles offers home-extensions' concessions

Eric Pickles outlines amendment to defuse Parliamentary critics of controversial permitted development rights ahead of Growth Bill vote.

Communities secretary Eric Pickles has offered concessions to critics of controversial Government proposals for home extensions in order to secure passage of the Coalition's flagship growth Bill, it emerged this evening.

Details of an amendment to provisions in the Growth and Infrastructure Bill on permitted development rights were sent to members of Parliament today, outlining a new light-touch neighbours' consultation scheme to allay concerns residents would be powerless if their amenities were affected.
