Community budgets represent the future model for delivering and funding local services, but the sector should not obsess over their structure, local government secretary Eric Pickles told MPs this week.

Answering questions from the Communities and Local Government Select Committee on 24 June, Mr Pickles said: 'I also think as time progresses the neighbourhood will become the fundamental building block of local government services and local government finance.'
