Media reports of a Cabinet reshuffle which would see Eric Pickles shifted to the post of party chairman have been dismissed as ‘speculation' by sources close to the communities secretary.

According to reports in the Sunday People yesterday, Prime Minister David Cameron plans to put Mr Pickles back into the post of party chairman - which he held during the 2010 election – in a bid to woo voters back from UKIP.
