Pickles sets out further council tax freeze plans

Communities secretary, Eric Pickles, today announced estimates of additional funding local authorities would receive for extending the council tax freeze into a second year.

Building on last year's voluntary scheme which was universally taken up by authorities, councils that freeze or reduce next year's average Band D council tax will get a one-off grant equivalent to raising bills by 2.5%.
