Pickles sets problem families challenge for councils

Eric Pickles today stepped up the community budgets programme with a challenge to councils to spearhead the breakdown of public sector silos intervening with the nation's 120,000 problem families who cost £8 billion a year.

The DCLG secretary said up to 20 local agencies could be dealing with the same family which he dubbed 'a story of futility and waste and it has simply got to stop.'
