Local government bodies are urging communities secretary Eric Pickles to rethink his plans to remove measures to protect council officials when they are being ousted.

Last month, Mr Pickles wrote to council leaders calling for all severance packages and pay packages worth more than £100,000 to be subject to a full vote at council meetings.
