A pioneering approach to tackling gangs

Waltham Forest's programme to tackle gang violence recently won the Delivering Better Outcomes category in The MJ Awards 2012.

The north east London borough of Waltham Forest has escaped the depth of gang violence prevalent in some of its neighbours thanks to an energetic programme launched by the council, Enough is enough, which won the Delivering Better Outcomes category in The MJ Awards 2012.

Gang violence is on the decline in Waltham Forest borough thanks to a unique programme launched by the council two years ago to take a holistic approach to tackling gangs and youth violence. Serious youth violence is down by 24%, gun crime down by 31%, knife crime down by 16% and muggings down by 11%.
