Being thrust into the national media limelight over an investment crisis is never a comfortable position for a local authority to be in, but that is where Kent CC has ended up.

At the end of May, it tried to withdraw £263m of its pension pot from Woodford Equity Income Fund, only for the fund to freeze the investment.
