Planning for growth?

Lisa Tye and Kathryn Jump of Weightmans LLP explain how changes to the planning approval process could impact local authorities.

The Government is encouraging us all to test the boundaries of the new planning system to stimulate the economy.  The burning question is whether the type and quality of development which comes forward under the new system is the right kind of development to deliver the much needed regeneration and jobs our towns and cities need.

30 May 2013 heralded a new dawn in the planning system.  The Government wants to kick-start the economy by reducing the bureaucracy in the system to stimulate development, and with it economic growth.
