Prime minister David Cameron today lauded the progress of the DCLG's troubled families programme for its success in transforming the lives of one-third of the target figure of 120,000 families.
According to aDCLG update issued today, 39,480 families had been ‘turned around' since the £448m initiative led by Louise Casey was launched - with 111,574 families with chaotic household lives identified and 97,202 being worked with.
Specific results from the payment-by-results scheme involving all upper-tier English local authorities include returning truanting or excluded children back to school for three consecutive terms, reducing youth crime and anti-social behaviour and boosting household employment rates.
