PM praises 'troubled families' progress

David Cameron today lauded the progress of the DCLG’s troubled families programme for its success in transforming the lives of one-third of the target figure of 120,000 households.

Prime minister David Cameron today lauded the progress of the DCLG's troubled families programme for its success in transforming the lives of one-third of the target figure of 120,000 families.

According to aDCLG update issued today, 39,480 families had been ‘turned around' since the £448m initiative led by Louise Casey was launched - with 111,574 families with chaotic household lives identified and 97,202 being worked with.

Specific results from the payment-by-results scheme involving all upper-tier English local authorities include returning truanting or excluded children back to school for three consecutive terms, reducing youth crime and anti-social behaviour and boosting household employment rates.
