PM spells out health and care rescue plan

Boris Johnson’s plan to rescue health and social care will include an increased focus on prevention, workforce reform, and a white paper on integration later this year – but may not be enough to ‘fix’ the care system.

Of the £36bn raised over the next three years by a national insurance (NI) hike, just £5.4bn will go to adult social care – and the government is yet to reveal what its package of floors and ceilings to protect service users will cost.The plan includes a £86,000 care cap, with a floor of £100,000, with no one with assets of less than £20,000 paying.
