Avon and Somerset Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding an 'unlawful' pay rise for a council chief executive.

Avon and Somerset Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding an 'unlawful' pay rise for a council chief executive.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police confirmed investigations are 'ongoing' following the publication of a report by the Wales Audit Office on 6 March into a decision last September to increase the pay of Caerphilly CBC's chief executive, Anthony O'Sullivan from £127,653 to £153,071.
