Union chiefs have demanded an independent inquiry into privatisation, after a survey showed a lack of public trust in the quality of outsourced services.

Launching an ‘urgent' debate at the Trades Union Congress' annual conference in Brighton this week, Unison general secretary, Dave Prentis, cited findings from a ComRes poll of 2,057 adults, which revealed 55% believe public services are of worse quality after privatisations.
