Tackling poverty in England is costing local authorities more than £12bn a year in additional social care spending, a new report has warned.

The report by The Joseph Rowntree Foundation estimates that dealing with poverty is costing the public sector around £69bn in extra costs, with additional ‘knock on effects' costing a further £8.7bn.
