PPMA: Zero hours have worth

Local authorities have been accused of ‘using the cuts agenda’ to worsen their employees’ conditions.

HR managers have stood by their use of zero-hours contracts after local authorities were accused of ‘using the cuts agenda' to worsen their employees' conditions.

A motion to be tabled at trade union Unison's annual conference in Brighton next month will ask delegates to ‘deplore' local authorities that ‘exploit staff by issuing zero-hours contracts'.
