Praise councils for good work, says ombudsman

Local authorities should be commended when they act upon ombudsman recommendations instead of just being reprimanded for poor performance, the Local Government Ombudsman (LGO) has said.

Local authorities should be commended when they act upon ombudsman recommendations instead of just being reprimanded for poor performance, the Local Government Ombudsman (LGO) has said.

Speaking to the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman, Rob Behrens, in a podcast, Michael King said the purpose of an ombudsman was not just to provide justice for complainants but also to help local authorities improve their service.
