Union leader steps up war of words with ministers as the ‘day of action’ over pensions nears.

Union leaders have stepped up the war of words with ministers as the ‘day of action', national strikes over pension reforms which are poised to take place next Wednesday, looms closer.

Government negotiators, led by chief secretary to the Treasury, Danny Alexander and Francis Maude, Cabinet Office minister hit the airwaves yesterday claiming the co-ordinated industrial action involving an estimated 2 million public sector employees could cost business £500m.
