Government must be better prepared for the aftermath of serious unrest similar to last summer's riots – with the London mayor needing to provide greater leadership in the capital – the MP for Tottenham warned this week.
Speaking to the London Assembly's budget and performance committee on 12 June, David Lammy warned he could not guarantee there would be no repeat of last August's violence, which first erupted in Tottenham and quickly spread across England, and suggested that a planned response should be in place.
