Pressure on deputy prime minister Nick Clegg on the issue of NHS reforms has increased as a senior aide threatens to quit, and Liberal Democrat party activists call for the party's view to be ‘fully respected'.

More than 1,200 party activists, including councillors and council leaders, have requested the amendments outlined at the party's spring conference be adopted in full.
