Productivity must be central to devolution deals as Britain faces an ‘urgent' need to protect local economies following Brexit, a report has claimed.

The New Local Government Network (NLGN) this week said a third of corporation tax generated in England – worth up to £12.1bn – should be devolved to city and county regions to give councils a stake in business expansion and an incentive to support productivity growth.
