Profile: Sir Simon Milton

Westminster City Council leader Sir Simon Milton has announced his bid to be the next chair of the LGA after Lord Bruce-Lockhart. He tells Heather Jameson about his two decades of public life in one of the UK’s most high-profile boroughs.

Sir Simon Milton is already one of local government's highest-profile councillors as head of the highly visible Westminster City Council and chair of the Local Government Association's improvement board.

It will come as no surprise to anyone that he has now announced he will stand for the job of LGA chairman when current incumbent Lord Bruce-Lockhart steps down – he has been hotly tipped for the job for a long time.
