A properly funded future?

Paul O’Brien warns cutbacks to liveability services risk costing the public purse dearly, given the huge impact such services can have on local regions

The Victorians saw public parks as a means to stop working men drinking excessively, believing that natural spaces, within the new industrialised landscape, were ultimately a good thing.

Today, many academics still support the theory that the local environment influences behaviour. Allow a local environment to normalise ‘low-level' crime and you normalise law-breaking, spinning neighbourhoods into decline.
