An influential think-tank has hit back at criticisms raised in The MJ over its methodology for evaluating the balance of economic growth throughout the country.

Andrew Carter, acting chief executive for Centre for Cities, has written to The MJ defending the think-tank's use of Primary Urban Areas (PUAs) for comparing different areas of the country.
