Public attitudes are starting to shift in favour of increasing taxes for the first time in over a decade, the latest annual British Social Attitudes report has suggested.

Public attitudes are starting to shift in favour of increasing taxes for the first time in over a decade, the latest annual British Social Attitudes report has suggested.

The proportion of people calling for the Government to hike taxes and spend more on public services increased from 31% in 2010 to 36% in 2011, according to the 29th edition of the survey, which involved interviews with 3,311 people.
