Public health comes home

Councils have shown they can deliver successful work on public health and London's efforts to combat HIV is a case in point, says John O'Brien

Last year's reductions in Public Health funding allocations should not obscure the excellent work that is being done to tackle some of the biggest public health challenges facing our communities.

Each day shows local government is able to spend the Public Health pound often more efficiently than during the centralised system that prevailed prior to the devolution of this funding in April 2013.
