It might be over a year since the collapse of Carillion, however one thing is clear – the crisis has created a real commitment to make lasting changes to public procurement.
Most recently, we have seen commitment to the extension of the Social Value Act requiring central government to evaluate social value when commissioning public services. This has in turn helped to jumpstart the private sector into doing more to map and measure the social value it creates. While this is a positive step, if we are going to make real change, we will need the public and private sectors working together to deliver social value.
