Public sector redundancies 'cancel out' private sector recovery

Redundancies in the public sector are cancelling out job recovery in the private sector, according to the CiPD.

Redundancies in the public sector are cancelling out job recovery in the private sector, according to new figures from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and KPMG.

The Labour Market Outlook, the net employment index, shows that large-scale public sector job losses are overwhelming the slight rise in private sector recruitment. More than half of public sector organisations are planning redundancies in the second quarter of 2011.
