Michael Burton feels the CBI study into absence will fuel the suspicion that public sector employees have it easier than their private sector counterparts.

Public sector staff continue to take off a higher average of sick days than those in the private sector according to the annual CBI/Pfizer Absence and Workplace Health Survey, which finds that while the private sector rate is 5.9 days a year, that of the public sector is 8.1.
