Public servants and civil servants go 'above and beyond'

Rachael Shimmin pays tribute to the late civil servant Paul Rowsell for his work and to public servants 'who will continue to go above and beyond whatever the outcome of the election'.

With more than 26 million county residents going to the polls today, I am struck yet again by the way in which colleagues in public services step up. In Buckinghamshire alone we have 1,000 people who have worked with us leading up to and on General Election day.

They will be planning, polling, counting and verifying with many working through the night and then back to the day job and a new government on Monday.
