The public understands there has to be a way to foot the social care bill

What is concerning about the last few days’ debate on social care reform is just how narrow it has become, says Heather Jameson.

It comes as no surprise to anyone at all in local government that the reform plan for social care has been delayed again. It would have been far more shocking if the government had actually announced its plans after so many years of delay.

The suggestion that the main players are out of action as they have to self-isolate is laughable. After 18 months of working from home, the rest of us have had to find ways of doing our jobs – surely it is not beyond our most senior politicians.
