Putting prevention first

Abigail Langley puts the high level of strategic priority placed on prevention in South Norfolk and Broadland under the spotlight, but she says investment does not match collective ambitions and localities’ needs.

Matthew Taylor's article, ‘Examining prevention' (www.themj.co.uk, 31 July 2023) reflects our excitement about the growing enthusiasm for support. It is something district councils have been championing for a long time, and recently we have taken a formal leadership role, alongside our voluntary and community sector colleagues (VCSEs).

This enthusiasm must now lead to matched longer-term funding and a drive towards shared targets and shared accountability across Integrated Care Systems.
