Stockton-on-Tees Council is urging its residents to register for one of Britain's unique sporting ‘endeavours'.

The Stockton ‘River rat race', which takes place on 26 August, involves running, swimming, kayaking in the River Tees and walking the plank from a replica of Captain Cook's Endeavour ship.
