Deputy prime minister Angela Rayner has announced plans to end the influence of NIMBYs on housebuilding, vowing they will ‘no longer have the upper hand'.

It comes after Prime Minister Keir Starmer last week included building 1.5 million homes in England over the next five years among a series of ‘ambitious' targets for Whitehall, with Rayner adamant local targets were ‘mandatory'.
