Reading Council is unlikely to be hit by a s114 notice despite fears it could fail to keep within its approved budget framework for 2016/17, The MJ understands.

In-year savings have already been agreed in July and December but a meeting last week was told budget monitoring had still identified ‘significant adverse variances' and the council's financial position had worsened further.
