A record number of children in England were taken into care last month, according to the latest government figures.

A record number of children in England were taken into care last month, according to the latest government figures.

Information released yesterday by the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service (Cafcass) revealed that 903 care applications were made in January - the highest number ever recorded in a single month.
