Recycling rates in England surpassed the 40% mark last year for the first time since records began.

Recycling rates in England surpassed the 40% mark last year for the first time since records began.

The annual local authority waste management stats – published by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) – reported the proportion of waste recycled, composted or reused reached 41.2% between April 2010 and March 2011 compared to 39.7% the previous year.
