Town hall leaders have called for a new locally-based approach to tackle the growing problem of youth unemployment.

A new report by the Local Government Association (LGA) issued over the weekend claims reducing the number of young people out of work by 20% over the next three years could result in savings of £1.25bn a year for the taxpayer.
