Yvonne Rees has been confirmed in her double-leadership role as Mole Valley DC chief executive and Surrey CC strategic director.

Yvonne Rees has been confirmed in her double-leadership role as Mole Valley DC chief executive and Surrey CC strategic director.

Mole Valley DC's decision to put the arrangement on a permanent basis from April 2104 after 15 months is expected to save £100,000 a year because Ms Rees' salary will remain unchanged.

Ms Rees said: ‘I'm delighted that my role has been made permanent. It makes perfect sense for both councils and I will strive to ensure we continue to work together to provide excellent, value for money services to local people.'

Cllr Chris Townsend said: ‘During her time as interim chief executive, Ms Rees has proven herself as a visible and strong leader, delivering grown up government at a time when success is measured in outcomes,' said Cllr Chris Townsend, leader of Mole Valley.

He said Ms Rees had delivered on all of her objectives and enhanced the authority through strong partnership working and a clear sense of purpose.

‘Yvonne sees the bigger picture for Mole Valley and for Surrey and how the wider public sector can make more of a difference by working together. This dual role means that she is uniquely positioned to deliver powerful benefits for the residents of both Mole Valley and Surrey as a whole,' Cllr Townsend added.

Surrey CC leader, Cllr David Hodge said: ‘Coming up with innovative ways to save taxpayers' money while providing high-quality services is central to everything we do. Working more closely with other local authorities is a guaranteed way to achieve both these aims and this role is fantastic news for both councils and taxpayers.'
