With the news that Rotherham MBC has been successful in a bid for government funding to support community cohesion, Chris Read sets out how communities are coming together.

Rotherham borough is made up of dozens of smaller villages and settlements. Over the last few years it has faced some unique challenges, but it is a great place, more than the sum of its parts.

The town has always been known for its sense of community, something reflected in a major public consultation two years ago.
