We will remain committed to international co-operation

Despite austerity and Brexit, the Core Cities have continued with their international outreach over recent years, says Cllr Huw Thomas.

The recent US election saw millions of voters embrace President-elect Donald Trump's vision of a more isolationist United States. For the next four years it will be ‘America First' on everything from climate to migration.

I profoundly disagree with the direction the world's most powerful democracy has taken, but Trump's second term does raise some interesting questions about the role of cities and whether we can take a different approach to create change both within and without our national borders.
