Remove all ring-fencing in 'deluxe' city deal says LGA

Council chiefs in partnership with Centre for Cities call on the Government to consider removing all ring-fencing from local authority funding.

Council chiefs in partnership with think tank Centre for Cities have called on the Government to consider removing all ring-fencing from local authority funding as part of a 'deluxe package' for future city deals.

The call was made in a discussion paper published today, outlining a range of options for the 'core package' part of city deals - measures to devolve a set of powers and functions to all city areas invited to negotiate deals with Whitehall.
