Over the past few years there has been a ‘quiet revolution' in council housebuilding with the establishment across England of some 150 local housing companies (LHC).
Our new report, Delivering the renaissance in council-built homes: the rise of local housing companies, forecasts that more than half of all councils in England may soon have a housing company. Collectively, we believe LHCs have the potential to deliver up to 15,000 extra homes a year by 2022 (compared with just 2,000 new council homes in 2016).
