Renegotiation of S106 unnecessary, says LGA

The LGA brands the Government plans to help developers renegotiate Section 106 deals prior to April 2010 as 'unreasonable'.

Government plans to help developers renegotiate Section 106 deals signed prior to April 2010, were this week branded ‘unreasonable' and ‘unnecessary' by the Local Government Association (LGA).

Developers must currently wait five years to request renegotiation talks with councils over Section 106 deals – which commit developers to community investments as part of their planning permission – if a voluntary agreement cannot be reached.
