Plans to devolve more powers to local government will not improve regional variations in the economy, a think-tank has warned.

In a report published today, entitled The Local Double Dividend, the think-tank Centre for Local Economic Strategies (CLES) warned that flawed economic models in Westminster are likely to be replicated at a local level when powers are devolved, unless more emphasis is placed on tackling poverty and inequality.
