Social care has a ‘crucial role' to play in easing the pressure on acute hospital services, health care bosses have claimed.

Responding to a report by the Royal College of Physicians (RCP), which said acute services cannot keep pace, the chief executive of the Social Care Institute for Excellence, Andrea Sutcliffe, said ‘the NHS cannot solve these issues alone' and social care has a ‘crucial role' to play.
