Effective scrutiny can help local authorities with financial management, according to a new report by the Centre for Public Scrutiny (CfPS) and Grant Thornton.

The report, entitled Raising the Stakes, is a guide for Welsh councils on how scrutiny can add value to financial planning, with examples of questions that members can ask to help scrutinise their local authority's budget.
