Required: some real radicalism

Dr Simon Kaye reflects on the recent round of political party conferences and argues that a coherent vision for the present – or future – of local authorities in England is still missing.

The dust is settling as we creep into autumn, and now we have a bit more clarity – both about the likely shape of things into 2024 – and for the possible futures that will follow the next General Election.

Clarity, in this case, means we can see what still isn't there: any party with a vision for local authorities.
