Kris Hopkins has been confirmed as the Coalition's third housing minister following yesterday's reshuffling of ministerial ranks.

Mr Hopkins, aged 50, who represents Keighley in West Yorkshire, was appointed leader of Bradford MBC in 2006. 

He served as a private in the Duke of Wellington's Regiment before leaving the armed forces to study communications and cultural studies at Leeds University.  After graduating, he became a lecturer in media theory and communications.
