We need to rethink parks

Vicki Sellick from NESTA outlines the need for councils to innovate how public parks are used and funded.

On any given Saturday the UK's parks come alive - from community food festivals to army training style PT sessions, classical concerts to games with jumpers for goalposts.  Parks play a central role in our local communities – spaces for families and friends to come together, to relax, to exercise, to connect again with nature.

But the outlook for our parks isn't quite as vibrant as this picture paints. Public sector funding for parks is projected to fall by 60%  or more over the next decade.
